American artist Richard Artschwager passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2013. His personal exhibit at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain inaugurated the new Jean-Nouvel designed building at 261 boulevard Raspail with an order for a group of sculptures fitting for the spaces.
These works, more lively than ever, are part of the Fondation Cartier’s collection today and are displayed throughout the world as part of institutional loans or collection exhibits. At the end of the 1994 exhibit, the artist also showed great generosity towards the Fondation Cartier by donating eight sculptures from the Archipelago series.
