For the first time in Europe, the Fondation Cartier presents Bill Viola’s work The Sleep of Reason. This installation, created in 1988 and belonging to the Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh’s collection, introduces the visitor into a space where the edge between the inner world and reality is porous.

This visual poem is accompanied by a presentation of the installation Il Vapore, created in 1975, and a film, Anthem, in which the artist stages the slow motion scream of a young girl which triggers a series of emotional and visual events. These pieces allow the public to better understand the work of one of the most famous video artists of his time.
