The Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain presents Azur, an exhibit bringing together works by artists from Claude Monet and James Lee Byars to Edvard Munch and Yves Klein that, from the 19th century to today, demonstrate the paradoxical representations the artists have depicted of the infinite and the absolute.

While the color azure has long been considered a particularly dazzling blue, as of the 19th century the experience of azure has combined metaphysical thought and this particularly deep, productive dimension of art: grasping the unrepresentable.
