This conversation will be in English with French subtitles.
As part of Paris Photo.
Kristen Gresh, curator of the exhibition Graciela Iturbide’s Mexico and Thyago Nogueira, curator of the exhibition Claudia Andujar: The Yanomami Struggle will engage in a conversation about how these photographers' unique perspectives broaden the scope of what photography can convey about reality.
Graciela Iturbide and Claudia Andujar move beyond documentary photography, giving form to images that are both poetic and attuned to the presence of others. Their images emerge from the relationships of proximity and trust they develop with their subjects and reflect a lived experience rather than a momentary observation. In their work, reality is transformed, infused with imagination, memory, and the depth of human connection.
Graciela Iturbide and Claudia Andujar are major artists in the programmation and the collection of Fondation Cartier. Their works are presented as part of Exposition Générale.
With Kristen Gresh, Estrellita and Yousuf Karsh Senior Curator of Photographs at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston et Thyago Nogueira, Head of Contemporary Photography Department, Instituto Moreira Salles, Brazil
