Faithful to its pioneering spirit, the Fondation Cartier pour l’Art Contemporain has created the Manufacture, a 300 m2 educational area dedicated to cultural mediation, artistic practices, and promoting the skills and knowledge related to artistic professions.

Transmission through art in motion, hands-on inspiration

In keeping with its humanist vocation, the Manufacture evolves according to its exhibitions and cultural programmes. It aims to welcome a broad audience from diverse backgrounds and to place visual variety and diversity of experience at the heart of its activities.

Driven by the conviction that physical encounters with art and artistic practices bring personal fulfilment and cultural empowerment, the activities offered at the Manufacture are designed to be times for discovery and dialogue. They nurture collective interaction, stimulate the expression of emotions, and foster vocations.

With its various areas tailored to knowledge and skill sharing, art in motion activities are available to different audiences at different times. In the morning, the Manufacture is open to schools, whilst in the evening, it opens its doors to adults. Afternoons are dedicated to groups from medical and social backgrounds, and on weekends, the Manufacture welcomes families. Each activity, each programme is designed hand-in-hand with expert professionals (art facilitators, artists, craftspersons, social workers, healthcare workers, teachers, etc.) to offer bespoke, educational, and pertinent programmes for all.

The Manufacture is a place with a soul that is not only a place for transmission and learning but also for sharing experiences. Thanks to the teams that bring the Manufacture to life, it brings together excellence of gesture and vitality of skills and knowledge in a continuous process of reinvention that is a window onto contemporary creation.
