Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain and the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship are partnering to present Homo Faber Conversations. This monthly series of thematic panel discussions, led by international creators, thinkers, and cultural leaders, explores the convergence between craftsmanship, design, and contemporary art. Open to all, this program aims to foster dialogue and redefine the way the world perceives human creation.
Architects and designers are transforming urban landscapes through innovative design and a renewed focus on craftsmanship, creating projects that enhance city life, promote sustainability and celebrate the role of artisans in shaping our built environment.
Kulapat Yantrasast is one such architect. Fascinated by making from an early age, he went on to design projects for some of the world’s most iconic museums, including the Louvre, the MET, and the National Museum of India.
In this conversation he discusses his creative journey and his role in shaping cultural and civic spaces that foster empathy and connection. He reflects on the responsibility of architects towards people, place and planet, and discusses how craftsmanship can help cities remain human, inclusive and deeply connected to the communities they serve.
With cities increasingly challenged by issues including overtourism, declining air quality and the climate crisis, how can architects make a positive and creative impact on the urban environments we live in?
Moderator Nora Gherbi will introduce the speaker and direct the conversation, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
Kulapat Yantrasast
Nora Gherbi
