The Temps de la parole invite visitors to take a seat within the Parliament of Ghosts installation, designed as a space for exchange and an agora. These gatherings bring together the artists of the exhibition as well as guest artists in dialogue with Ibrahim Mahama’s practice, art schools, and partner institutions.

As part of the off-site programming for the exhibition To Make Space for the World (October 8, 2026 – January 16, 2027), the Cité internationale des arts presents a series of talks activating Ibrahim Mahama’s installation Parliament of Ghosts. Mahama is currently an artist-in-residence at the Cité during his exhibition The Harvest Season at the Fondation Cartier. On this occasion, Federica Chiocchetti, Head of Artistic and Cultural Programming at the Cité internationale des arts, will be in conversation with Gustavo Ciríaco, the artist behind the exhibition To Make Space for the World and the performance Caravanserà, presented on January 16 to mark the closing.

Gustavo Ciríaco

Gustavo Ciríaco (Rio de Janeiro, 1969) is a Brazilian artist whose work unfolds at the intersection of dance, visual arts, and site-specific interventions. His practice creates experiential situations where the choreographic becomes a way of perceiving and inhabiting places, particularly the museum as a public space. Through performances, installations, and participatory frameworks, he explores how the body, landscape, and memory shape ways of living together and give rise to new narratives. His work has been presented internationally, notably at CAM – Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, MAM Rio, the Serralves Museum, the Liverpool Biennial, Pioneer Works, and Haus der Kulturen der Welt.

The Cité internationale des arts

The Cité internationale des arts is the world's largest artists' residency. Since 1965, it has brought together over 300 artists of all origins, generations, and disciplines simultaneously in the heart of Paris. It curates an artistic and cultural program that highlights the work of resident artists while affirming the role of the residency as a site for dialogue and experimentation.
