Julianknxx

Having grown up between The Gambia and the United Kingdom, his practice is shaped by movement across geographies, languages, and historical temporalities. He approaches the diaspora not as a fixed identity, but as a space of transmission, circulation, and creative possibility. 

Listening in Quantum Act II is part of this research into sound, poetry, memory, and collective narratives. It explores an emotional, physical, and spiritual practice of attunement, inviting us to « listen in quantum » to the frequencies of a city and its individuals. At the Fondation Cartier in Paris, Julianknxx transforms the Parliament of Ghosts by Ibrahim Mahama into a place where voices converge, where past and present intertwine, and where the feeling of belonging takes shape. Accompanied by musician Thabo, the performance is a vocal and musical exchange that reveals how repetition, sound, and attentive listening can forge new relationships.  

Listening in Quantum, initiated in London (St Mary le Strand), raises the question of how we listen to the city and how it responds. Drawing from urban sounds and resonances, Julianknxx composes these encounters through Bantutronic — a genre and philosophy developed by the artist, Thabo, and a community of musicians and singers, exploring the richness of Bantu culture. He thus creates a space where Paris reveals itself anew, through what is found, felt, remembered, and restored.
