| In 1986, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain welcomed Pintores y escultores españoles, an exhibition initiated by the Fundación Caja de Pensiones in Barcelona. Bringing together 16 artists born in or after 1940, this exhibition presented an overview of contemporary Spanish artistic creation. Far from seeking to resemble an historical synthesis, its aim was to reveal these artists and their new forms of expression so as to give their works wider visibility. Complete with a rich iconography and biographical portraits, the exhibition catalog offers a chance to discover the work of these artists, who formed the new face of Spanish art in the 1980s. |
