Exhibition overview

In direct connection with the surrounding park, this series of 160 lead pencil drawings done in Sennelier notebooks can be discovered at the Fondation Cartier. Here, the drawings are presented logically, as they feature grass, undergrowth, paths, and embankments treaded on by the individual walking. The exhibit continues with the presentation of a series of wood panels. The phenomena seen on these panels (bulges, water stains, etc.) document the artist’s conviction, which led him to propose these boards –which he barely touched– as completed works, presented as records of thought. It is this conviction and this insistence that make the piece, confirming the work of nature: the boards come from contemplation and return to it.
