About the publication

After obtaining their degrees in visual expression—Judith Bartolani in Marseilles in 1979 and Claude Caillol in Nîmes in 1980—the two artists joined forces in 1988 and started building works around make-believe scenarios and stories which they tell each other. This imaginative scene-setting spawns sculptures where banal objects become “magnificent.” The Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain devoted an exhibition to them in 1984 entitled Ni rond, ni carré, ni pointu. The catalog published on this occasion features still photographs from the film presented in the exhibition, directed by Jacques Pibarot.
