Exhibition overview
In 1989, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain took on the challenge of bringing together what, in France, made or broke the 80s, a period that was still not over when the exhibit “Nos années 80” (“Our 80s”) debuted. The exhibit offers a glimpse into French creations in the fields of architecture, design, painting, sculpture, and video, with works from seventy creators. Photographs allow spectators to revisit the events and figures that marked this decade in France: from Coluche to AIDS, from the Bébête Show to the abolition of the death penalty, and from François Mitterrand to Yannick Noah.
