Exhibition overview

Couleur sud is the first part of a series of exhibits dedicated to painting. Here, the choice fell on works in which color is one of the painter’s fundamental concerns. What unites the painters of Couleur Sud is their way of reflecting and taking their work in a direction one could consider as marginal these past few years. They all share the classic concerns of the painter profession: research into expertise, questions over the material, the form, the lines, the design, the color, even worries over the reasoning behind the work. This exhibit on color presents artists whose common goal is to lead painting research and practices away from today’s mainstream trends in visual arts, each of them taking up an extremely unique position.

Artists and contributors of the exhibition:
  • Alain Diot,
  • Jérôme Bost,
  • E.L.A.N.,
  • Serge Plagnol,
  • Jean-Jacques Surian
