About the publication

Born in Sydney in 1963, Marc Newson is one of the most gifted and influential designers of his generation. In 2004, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain gave him carte blanche. He used it to design, develop, and make Kelvin 40, an astonishing jet plane that is the synthesis of the designer’s aesthetic and his passion for research and the aviation industry, fields he has observed and moved in for years and from which he borrows extensively.
The exhibition catalog is entirely devoted to this monumental work at the cutting edge of new technologies. It tells its full story, from the first preliminary drawings to the computer generated images of the aerodynamic tests.
