Exhibition overview

Vraiment faux presents facts and practices in the domains of the false and the imitation, the counterfeit and the plagiarized, the copy and the trompe-l’œil. The staging conceived by Elisabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti offers the most varied demonstrations of these, illustrated by three elements of universal symbolism. The earth (counterfeiting), where objects are partially buried underground; fire (from copying to republishing), where the works presented are lit by fire; and water (from simulation to substitution), where objects emerge from the water.

The exhibit is the perfect occasion to organize a discussion that brings together writers, historians, legal experts, and scientists on the topic of the false.
