Exhibition overview

This exhibition, which takes its title from the Samuel Beckett play Come and Go, brings together some forty paintings made during the past three years. Playing with an open-ended approach to hanging, it highlights variations and changes in the very elements that constitute these paintings—format, theme, and technique—and shows how Bernard Piffaretti reveals painting to the gaze through constantly revitalized works that are never monotone or static experiences. Inscribed in a continuum, the works recharge one another in a to-and-fro motion that ceaselessly produces painting.
