Golden Trees and Birds

Here, children will discover the technique of gelatin silver print on glass, a pioneering photography technique. After taking photos of different plant species in the Fondation Cartier’s garden, they will print them on a transparent film, then overlay the resulting image on a glass plate already bearing a gelatin silver photo of landscapes, fauna or flora. Gold leaf will then be delicately applied to create the background of this “reverse image” with the techniques of yesteryear. Each child will bring home their delicate, poetic photographic miniature.
