A few days before the opening of Sarah Sze’s exhibition Night into Day, the Fondation Cartier brings together the American artist and French philosopher Bruno Latour for a promenade-conversation through the exhibition, inviting the public to participate in a special moment testifying to their friendship, and to discover the artist’s immersive installations via a livestream preview.

The exhibition Night into Day is presented at the Fondation Cartier from October 24, 2020 to March 7, 2021.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Sze currently lives and works in New York. In 1999, she exhibited at the Fondation Cartier for the first time. Sarah Sze represented the United States at the Venice Biennale in 2013 and many of her works are held in the collections of prestigious institutions such as The Museum of Modern Art and The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, as well as The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Recent institutional exhibitions include Sarah Sze at Copenhagen Contemporary, Denmark, in 2017; Sarah Sze. Centrifuge at the Haus der Kunst, Munich (2017- 2018); Sarah Sze. Afterimage at the Victoria Miro Gallery, London (2018) and Sarah Sze at the Gagosian Gallery, Paris (2020).

Bruno Latour is notably at the origin of the Médialab program, the political arts master's degree at the School of Public Affairs (SPEAP) and the controversial mapping teaching program (FORCCAST) in Sciences Po Paris. He is the author of several books on these subjects, including The Pasteurization of France (Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1984), Science in Action, How to Follow Scientists and Engineers through Society (Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1989), Facing Gaia: Eight Lectures on the New Climatic Regime (Cambridge: Polity Press, 2017) and, more recently, Down to Earth: Politics in the New Climatic Regime (Cambridge: Polity Press, 2018). In 2020, in collaboration with Martin Guinard, he presented the exhibition Zones Critiques at the ZKM and at the 12^th Taipei Biennial.
