In Nulle part est un endroit, dancer and choreographer Nach narrates the moving geographies of her artistic practice, in particular krumping. A remarkable account, which she prolongs for this Nomadic Night event, with a dance session in the company of krump dancers through the exhibition spaces of the Fondation Cartier.

At the age of 22, Nach discovered krumping on the forecourt of the Opéra de Lyon. She was immediately drawn to this urban dance form, born in the poor suburbs of Los Angeles, and popularized thanks to David Lachapelle’s iconic documentary Rize. For Nach, this dance form signifies the liberation of a word or discourse that has long been repressed. It allows her to dance her desire to live. Krumping is a means of expressing her determination to discover the world before it falls apart. Along with the other dancers, she laughs and cries in the same movement.

In Nulle part est un endroit, Nach becomes a storyteller, recounting her discovery of the highly codified universe of krumping: the battles, street freestyle sessions, and its powerful energy, all of which encouraged her to explore new horizons: butō, flamenco, kathakali, and puppetry.

This event is a danced conference where narrative, dance, archival images and anthropological research on the krumping community merge. For this Nomadic Night, she has invited dancers to join her after the show in the exhibition spaces of the Fondation Cartier for a dance session, where each of the bodies has a story to tell.

Anne-Marie Van, alias Nach, discovered krumping by chance at the age of 22, in front of the Opéra de Lyon. Although studying English at the time, she was quickly caught up in this urban dance form, the power of which she had only glimpsed until then in Rize, the famous documentary by David Lachapelle. The combined power of joy and suffering in krumping circles fascinated her. She soon mastered the basics and crossed the thin dividing line that separates the audience from the dancers. In so doing, she found a community eager to impart knowledge, experienced moments of sharing and discovery, and of course, the liberation of a long-repressed discourse. Nach dances her desire to live. Through krumping, she urgently expresses her wish to know the world before it falls apart. With the other krumpers, she laughs and cries in the same movement. For her, this dance form is a way of celebrating the best that life has to offer, as well as the most violent. The initial curiosity that drew her to dance has since brought her to other horizons.
