About the publication

In 1986, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain hosted various events that all marked its strong commitment to artistic discovery. The exhibition L’Art fun presented a selection of sculptors, each with their own way of handling the concept of distorting ordinariness and artfully presenting contemporary clichés. To accompany them, the Fondation Cartier invited artists, painters, and photographers to realize large open-air works on the walls of the Bunker for the exhibition Sur les murs.
The catalog published on this occasion provides an account of these different events and paints the portrait of the participating artists. It also proposes a documentary journey around the work of Raymond Hains, with an updated biography announcing a planned exhibition at the Fondation Cartier.
