About the publication

How to show a car that cannot be driven ? This was the big question at stake in the Hommage à Ferrari exhibition organized by the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in 1987. Asked by the Fondation Cartier to take up the challenge, Andrée Putnam came up with the most original way to turn a Ferrari into an authentic work of art. Aside from creating a whole set of furniture, the designer chose to present the cars on platforms hooked up to hot air balloons, so that visitors could see the Ferraris taking off and landing.
